Agathon and the Agathic Family

Agathon

Agathon is 'the Good'. The Agenda of Zartian Agathists is to make Agathon manifest in the world.

To help us to understand Agathon, Zartians start with the concept of the Agathic Family introduced below. Our ideas are then extended with a longer list of Agathoi (Good Ones). We also go to writings of the Tetramagi and their students.

Agathic Family

AGATHA DIVINA - the mother

Agatha Divina is the Divine Good.

Agatha Divina is 'the Eternal Good', the unchanging source of Goodness, the Form of the Good, the patterns that are the templates for good things as well as the aspects of reality out of which the Good is made manifest.

AGATHA PHYSICA - the daughter

Agatha Physica is the Living Good and also the Ultimate Good.

Agatha Physica is 'Good-in-itself' in the world. We value her just for her presence which makes our lives worthwhile.

She has names Thalia (Flourishing), Chara (Joy), Eudemonia (Happiness/Good-Spirit) and Ushta (Radiant Happiness/Enlightenment).

AGATHUS - the father

Agathus is the Instrumental Good.

Agathus is the producer of the Manifest Good. Agathus is also called Aura Mazda (Wise Governor), for with his clear seeing and knowledge of good patterns he takes the right action in any situation to bring about the growth and flourishing of living beings and their harmonious inter-relationship.

AGATHUS JUNIOR - the son

Agathus Junior is the next-generation of Agathus or instrumental Good. He is the same in his nature as Agathus, but needs to be created by him.

The Family Business

Agathus and Agatha are a partnership. It is Agatha who is the ultimate source of Good, but Agathus is needed to bring her out, to make her manifest in the world. Together they produce two children: Agatha Physica, their girl-child is the Absolute , Ultimate or Final Good; Agathus Junior is the next generation of Instrumental Good who is like his Father in his nature and will carry on the work of his Father into the future.

Agathon

Agathon - The Good - is pure goodness whether as an abstract idea, an active presence or a passive experience. Agatha is not easily understood in her totality, but we can make an attempt by understanding her children the Agathoi.

Agathon is the Ideal Good which Urvan reaches up towards like reaching towards the sun.

Agathon is the particular configuration or kind of happening in Zurvan that is the best for life.

Agathon is also known as the Agatha the Beautiful for she is the most desireable of all. However she is not easily attained directly and to know and serve her better one should get to know her children - the Agathoi.
